You should wait anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks after laying pavers before applying a sealer. This waiting period allows the mortar and grout to fully cure and gives trapped moisture and natural salts (efflorescence) time to escape from the stone’s pores.

The Danger of Sealing Too Early

If you rush the sealing process, you risk:
  • Trapping Efflorescence: Natural white salt deposits will get trapped beneath the sealer, leaving ugly white stains that are extremely difficult to remove.
  • Cloudy Sealer: Moisture trapped beneath the surface can cause solvent-based sealers to turn milky or cloudy.
  • Poor Adhesion: The sealer may fail to penetrate the stone deeply, causing it to flake off.
