Choosing Crazy Paving in Melbourne

Crazy paving uses irregular pieces rather than a uniform rectangular grid. The layout can create organic flow through a courtyard or garden path. Compare colours and joint layouts for a mid-century modern landscape or a Mediterranean-style patio, while keeping walking surfaces and furniture areas practical.

Is crazy paving the same as flagstone paving?

The terms overlap in many paving searches, but the exact supplied product matters. Check the stone material, piece size range, thickness variation and finish. Do not assume a listing supplies uniform pieces or a particular joint layout simply because it uses either term.

How much crazy paving should I order?

Measure the paved area and ask your installer to allow for the chosen joints, edge cuts, piece selection and wastage. Confirm how the supplier calculates square-metre coverage. Random pieces need a layout plan; their quantity should not be compared by piece count alone.

Can I use crazy paving around a pool or on a driveway?

Ask about the exact stone and finish before specifying these applications. Slip-test information, thickness, pool exposure, load-bearing requirements and the base design need individual confirmation. Irregular shape is a design feature, not a performance certification.
